Every show has a reason on why it was made. What do you think the reason behind SatAM was? I think they made SatAM to give a more serious side to Sonic. Because first they had "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog", which has a more or less comedy. Although SatAM still has jokes and laughter in it, it is still a more serious Sonic.... If Sonic could be serious

Well the show was made to make money, that is the driving force behind most things under capitalism. The board of directors at DiC did not sit around and think, how can we make children happy, or lets satisfy our artistic curiosity, they made SatAM to make money plain and simple. Now chief regarding your point about SatAM being more serious, what really happened was that DiC tried to sell Adventures to ABC but after looking at the show ABC turned it down and said they wanted something more serious, hence DiC made SatAM. Well there are no doubt more complex issues involved beyond my simple analyses but I believe I do have the basics covered.

this is true. I went up to Digipen in Washington, and one of the first things the speaker said was that they didn't work for the benifit of mankind, but for the benifit of their pockets. however, I do beleive that they made the cartoon to show the more serious side of Sonic.

uh, yea, I guess damn all us capitalistic americans. After all, who wants to take a chance with an untested franchise and try to make some money off of the crazy shit that goes on in their heads? Not I!!!
Sure they did it for money, but that's not the only reason. Sonic at the time was doing particularly well as a franchise, and DiC took a chance with AoStH. Seeing how well that did, when the idea was pitched for SatAM, it was given the go ahead. SatAM is one of the few amazing shows that were it not for its cancelation, i'm sure it would be a cult classic with many more a man than this group and FUS alone. In fact, if SatAM had been allowed a second chance before it hit the chopping block, i'm willing to bet we'dve gotten that dvd a whole hell of a lot sooner, and more than that. By now the entire series would be in the hands of every Sonic fan on the globe!!!
Ok, that was my insane rant for this topic... I go now.

Wildfire conclusions, in spite of being worded as a crazy rant by his own admission are quite probably true. The show is of an extremely high quality and is still excellent even though it was made over a decade ago and I think it would have easily attracted a massive global fan base, had it been allowed to carry on. Even now several guys of my generation remember SatAM with fondness even if unlike me they have let go of cartoons altogether. Back in the early 90's the American economy was still growing at a fairly fast rate and so companies could afford to invest more money in a carton. Look at the situation today though, the US while still being the wealthiest country in the world is $500 billion in dept and so investment is low in everything. Take Hollywood for example, it is now very nervous about trying out new ideas and so we are riddled with remakes, sequels and rip off's. Also networks are increasingly looking abroad to purchase cheep anime rather than made their own, or simply rerun old cartons (not that I mind this though because a lot of the old shows are great) and when they do make new shows you can tell right away the production values are low. Just compare the animation quality of SatAM to almost any recent US animated show to see what I mean.

Well....since the people just did it for their ulterior motives, I guess it's up to the like of us to take it even further.
Already, in the FUS forums, besides the sea3on comic, two projects had been started (Though not "officially") that had a very real possibility of being realised. One is a flash series by some dude named "dccarmus" which explores an even darker side of SatAM and another is an RPG endavour called "Squaresoft Sonic" of which I am a part of as the main composer. ;D

SatAm was created so that we could enjoy a show, or did I get something wrong?

Well, they wanted us to enjoy the show, because they'll get more ratings and more ratings means more money. But I doubt that they are greedy at all, they are just trying to earn their keep, that's all. ;D

Money is good...
Here is a question..
How did they think of SatAM. I mean who the hell thinks of animals running away from robots and a evil half robot who turns everything into robots... In a way I guess its a cartoon spinoff of StarTreck. Like the borg and what not. But how would they have thought of it?

Though many don't seem to realize it (especially those who want to say that one Sonicverse is so much better than another), the SatAM storyline actually shares a bit with the old SegaSonic storyline. In both . . . Sonic and his gang live out in the forest, Robotnik has a huge city that he works out of, Robotnik traps animals in machines (in a different way, but meh), etc. So, really, the person(s) who developed SatAM based it (albeit very loosely) on the Sega continuity. So if you want to wonder how they thought of it, you have to wonder how the Sega people thought of it, too.
